GUTTER DOWNSPOUT EXTENSIONS

GUTTER DOWNSPOUT EXTENSIONS

Without them, you could be exposing your crawl space to water intrusion.

As it rains, there is a lot of water pouring off your home's roof. If you don't direct this water away from the foundation, it will find its way into your crawl space.

Water pooling in your crawl space?

If you have water under your house, you may want to check how your gutters are draining.

Clogged Gutters

If your gutters are clogged, they can overflow, the water will seep into the ground and then find its way into the crawl space through any imperfections in the foundation. Gutters should be checked and cleaned on a regular basis.

Gutter Drainage

Have you ever watched how much water comes out of your gutters? Statistics show that on a 1,500sqft roof, if it rains 1 inch, you will have roughly 1,000 gallons of water pouring out of your downspouts. Now imagine all that water pouring directly into your crawlspace, because that is potentially what you are doing if the water does not move away from the house when leaving the gutters. Poor gutter drainage is one of the lead causes of water in the crawl space.

HANDLING GUTTER DRAINAGE?

As a rule, we believe gutter drainage should extend at least ten feet away from the foundation. Unless you have a really good slope away from the house. That is a lot of water pouring off your home and if you don't direct it away from the foundation, it will find its way in.
